BTIG Expands Institutional Equities Business in Europe with Senior Appointments – Matthew Rubens and John McPate Join BTIG in London as Managing Directors
London – June 16, 2015 – BTIG Limited, the European affiliate of BTIG, LLC, a global financial services firm specialising in institutional trading, investment banking, research and related brokerage services, announced today that it is expanding its Institutional Equity Sales Group with the appointment of Matthew Rubens, Managing Director, and John McPate, Managing Director and Global Technology Sales Specialist. Based in London, Mr. Rubens will cover institutional equities accounts in developed and emerging markets while Mr. McPate will specialise in technology sales and research.
Mr. Rubens joins BTIG after a 15-year career with Goldman Sachs, where he was most recently Head of Emerging Markets Execution across London, Moscow and Dubai. Previously, he was Head of Emerging Markets Sales Trading from 2011 through 2013 during which time he was made a managing director. Earlier in his career at Goldman Sachs, he held a number of senior client coverage roles across developed and emerging markets.

Mr. McPate joins BTIG from J.P. Morgan, where he worked as a Global Technology Specialist, focused on global technology stocks and the rapidly-expanding technology industry. Previously, he was Head of European Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) Research at Evolution Securities. Prior to his role at Evolution Securities, he was with J.P. Morgan from 2001 to 2009 as their first Technology Specialist and before that, he was with Salomon Smith Barney as a European Technology Specialist. Mr. McPate began his career in the electronics industry, where he worked for 17 years including a role with Wolfson Microelectronics as a Sales and Marketing Director.
