BTIG 11th Annual Commissions for Charity Day – Two Heroes Represent Charities Close to their Hearts

Celebrity Chef Eduardo Garcia and Supermodel Petra Nemcova were literally comparing notes on their near-death experiences and how they manage to both exude such an incredible, positive energy. They both said that the more positive energy they put out, the more they get back from others….

Eduardo Garcia is a chef, entrepreneur, motivational speaker and outdoors enthusiast from Montana. He has traveled extensively and his adventures at home and abroad always revolve around anything and everything to do with food and an active healthy lifestyle.

During a backcountry hike in October 2011 he was electrocuted by a main line power source where he suffered extensive life threatening injuries. He was airlifted to the Burn Trauma ICU in Salt Lake City, where he fought for his life over 50 days and to date has had 21 surgeries and still has a few more to go. His nine exit wounds led to him losing four ribs, muscles from both his legs, torso, scalp and the amputation of his left hand. After initial surgeries to remove burnt material from his body he endured extensive reconstructive surgeries and rehabilitation.Sharing a moment with Petra Nemacova on the grit and determination to push past loss and disaster. Petra clung to a tree for hours and saved her own life during the 2004 Tsunami.

Both were here representing charities close to their hearts (Challenged Athletes Foundation and Happy Hearts Fund)
