BTIG Expands Investment Banking and Capital Markets Team – Industry Veterans Charles Mather, Gene Ramirez, Gregory Wade, Steven Marder, Brett Fodero and Matthew McLeod Join BTIG
New York – May 11, 2015 – BTIG, LLC, a global financial services firm specializing in institutional trading, investment banking and related brokerage services, announced today a number of senior hires in its Investment Banking and Capital Markets division. In New York, Charles Mather has joined the firm as a Managing Director within the firm’s Capital Markets Group while Brett Fodero has joined as a Director within the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) Investment Banking Group. In San Francisco, Gene Ramirez, Managing Director, Steven Marder, Director, and Matthew McLeod, Vice President, have joined the firm within its TMT Investment Banking Group, and Gregory Wade, Managing Director, has joined within the firm’s Healthcare Investment Banking Group.

Charles Mather will advise clients on traditional public, private and other alternative capital raising strategies across the consumer, healthcare and TMT sectors. Mr. Mather brings over 20 years of capital markets experience to BTIG. Prior to joining BTIG, he was Co-Head of Equity Capital Markets and Head of the Private and Alternative Capital Group at Janney Montgomery Scott. Previously, he was Head of the Structured Equity Group at Jefferies and Head of the Private Equity Group at Cowen.
The TMT Investment Banking Group is led by Gene Ramirez. Along with Steven Marder, Brett Fodero and Matthew McLeod, they are responsible for providing capital markets and M&A-related expertise and strategic advisory services to growth companies within the TMT industry. Mr. Ramirez was a Managing Director and Head of Technology, Media and Telecommunications Merchant and Investment Banking at Morgan Joseph TriArtisan. He has been in the investment banking industry since the mid-1990s, having started his career at Robertson Stephens. Earlier in his career, he founded two technology companies. Mr. Marder joins the firm after an extensive 25-year career as an attorney, entrepreneur, advisor and operating partner at a number of firms including Avista Capital Partners and Morgan Joseph TriArtisan. Mr. Fodero joins BTIG from BMO Capital Markets, where he served as an equity research analyst focused on the software industry. Previously, he was a member of the software research team at Lazard Capital Markets for more than five years. Mr. McLeod joins BTIG from Morgan Joseph TriArtisan as well, where he served as a member of the TMT team for more than four years. He began his career nearly eight years ago as an investment banker at Lazard Freres.
Gregory Wade, PhD., will advise companies on strategic and capital-raising-related events and transactions across the healthcare industry with a focus on life sciences and medical technology. Dr. Wade was most recently Head of Business Development at Pharmacyclics, Inc., and previously worked as a research analyst at Pacific Growth Equities and its successor firm for 14 years.
